March 2026, Financial Adviser Exam Analysis

ASIC on April 2, 2026 released the results for the March sitting of the Financial Adviser Exam. The results are always a good indicator to the number of new entrants to the advice profession.

Members can access the data through Dashboard 10 of the ‘Adviser Fast Facts’ series of dashboards - There are three charts than allow the user to change the date ranges.

The March sitting had 292 candidates, down on the November 2025 sitting which had 308. However, greater than the March 2025 sitting which was 241. 292 candidates is the third highest total since 2023.

The number of candidates that passed the exam was 209, representing 72% of candidates. The total was one higher than November 2025 which was 208 and and 32 higher than March 2025 which was at 177. The pass rate of 73% is above the 69% average rate for the last five sittings.

The number of candidates sitting for a second time or more was 65, very similar to March 2025 which was 66.

Since the Financial Adviser Exam was first introduced and commonly referred to as the FASEA Exam, the total number of candidates that have passed the exam is now at 20,963. The total number of advisers at the end of March was 15,147. This shows that some 5,816 candidates have passed the exam and are not practicing as an adviser. Back in March 2025 this number was 4,685.
